The Greatest Showman is one of the best movies of 2017. It was a musical about the beginning of show business and the circus. I enjoyed watching it because it was always interesting and surprising. I also loved the music because the songs were extremely catchy. The costumes and scenes were colorful and bright as well.
One scene that stood out to me was a scene that was about a minute long, but it still had a big impact. In the scene, singer Jenny Lind has just finished a performance and the audience is socializing in another room. When the ‘oddities’ and abnormal people from his show try to enter, he blocks the door and tells them to go home. This scene stood out to me because as much as Barnum acts like he cares about the people in his show, he still views them as outsiders. It upset me that he would let them be in the audience, but he wouldn’t even let them stay and party with everyone else.
Something interesting about this musical is that it is loosely based on the life of Phineas T. Barnum, and how he grew up to become one of the most known people around the world. He started out as a tailor’s son, which was not a wealthy occupation during his time. Even when the worst things happened, Barnum used his imagination to do his best to show that he wouldn’t be discouraged.
I think that anyone who enjoys movies with a lot of music would really want to see this movie. The main theme in this movie is to never lose sight of what’s most important to you and to not let what others think get the best of you. I would recommend this movie to families and children of all ages. It is a tale about the beginning of show business and how achieving your dream can lead to great things.
