If you could have an superpower, what would it be? Would it be invisibility, super strength, telepathy, or being able to fly? Those are a few options that most people would answer to this common icebreaker question. Well, I'm here to tell you that none of those are as amazing as Hollywood shows them to be. How do I know, you ask? Let's just say I have personal experience. I grew up watching Marvel, D.C. Comics, and X-Men, and they are all great. They have one thing in common, though: a false account of what having powers is like. Maybe you were bitten by a poisonous animal, or you had access to life-saving technology, or maybe, you were born with them. Either way, I hope you did not ask for them, because that would be a bad idea. I've seen enough movies to know that good guys almost always have an advantage, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they always win. They might win and put criminals in jail, but there will always be another one. That's why there are so many Marvel movies. Villains are like flies; they never stop coming. They are always hovering, watching, or waiting for the perfect moment to strike. I'm not an actual superhero, because they aren't real and I don't have supernatural powers. What does it take to be a hero, exactly. It doesn't have to be saving the world from aliens, or saving the neighbor's pet cat from a tree. It could be someone as common as a firefighter, police officer, or a teacher. If you think about it, pretty much everyone has had a super power in their lifetime. People who are invisible may notice things that others do not, like cell phones left on the floor. By turning that lost phone in, you became a hero and saved another person from buying another one and worrying about their privacy being invaded. You may not think that you are strong, but people battling diseases or other ailments are the bravest people we know. Even if you don't have an ailment, you are brave by just doing everyday things, because the world is dangerous, and everyone who faces it is brave. You don't need a superpower to be a hero. If you look around you and in the mirror, you'll see that superheroes are everywhere.
