There was a little girl who loved movies. She knew everything about movies, actors, actresses, directors, and more. She wanted more than anything to grow up and go into the movie business. She knew that she would have a long way to go before she could achieve her dream, so she started small. In school she was a part of the drama club, and she assisted with whatever she could. For some reason though, she never wanted to be on screen. Her family, friends, and teachers always asked her if she wanted to try out or be in a show, but every time she would reply, "No, thanks, the spotlight isn't for me."
When she was in middle school, her aunt moved to California for her job. She was very close to her aunt, so she was upset to see her go. Before she left, her aunt gave her a hug.
"Now you'll have a reason to come to California. Maybe when you come we can go to Hollywood together," her aunt told her before she left.
The girl started saving up money whenever she got it for her birthday or Christmas, so she could go to California and visit her aunt. She eventually got a job babysitting, so she saved her money from that as well. At school, the girl continued to do theater and work with the drama club. She enjoyed writing more as she got older, so she did that as well as drama. One day she showed a friend something she wrote. She didn't think much of it at the time, but it was a decision that she was glad she made.
"This is really good. I can imagine every single thing that you wrote in my head," her friend said.
This inspired the girl, and she thought since I like movies and writing so much, why not combine them?
The girl started to write screenplays as she transitioned from middle school to high school. She wrote about everything she could think of. Meanwhile, her savings from jobs and gifts continued to pile up. She had a little more than half the amount she needed to go to California.
Her birthday was coming up, and her parents had realized how hard she was working. They decided to give her something that she really wanted. They surprised her with the rest of the money for her trip to California. She thanked her parents profusely, and called her aunt. Her aunt told her how excited she was, and that she could spend the summer wit her in California.
The girl's freshman year of school ended, and she continued to write screenplays. She went to California via plane the second week of summer.
Her aunt was waiting for her at the airport, and the girl was excited to see her. They toured California and eventually visited Hollywood. They saw the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Sign, and visited Universal Studios, to name a few.
Her aunt worked as a movie producer. One day, her aunt had a work party, and the girl came with her. She met lots of different people there, and at one point her aunt brought up the fact that the girl was a screenwriter. The girl was embarrassed. "They're probably not even that good," she told people. But her aunt knew otherwise. "Did you bring any of them with you?" She asked the girl. "Yes, but they are at your house." "Let's go get them. I know you might not think that it's that big of a deal, but you have a talent and I believe you can do great things with it." So they went to the house and got a few of the girl's screenplays. Her aunt showed them to some other producers and they were shocked.
Before she knew it, people were offering her lots of money for her screenplays. She decided that she was not going to sell any of them, but would wait until she was older to make her dreams a reality. She told her parents what happened when she got back, and they we're proud of her.
When she finished high school, she moved to California and went to college. Due to a contest that she entered, she had earned a scholarship for a film school or college of her choice. She began to make movies as well. She became a full-time screenwriter as an adult. Eventually she made her mark and her name was in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She realized that if you work really hard and never give up, then your dreams might come true.
