The Orange Wall

There are walls made out of brick, stone, and an other type of rock that you can think of. Nobody has ever seen a wall made out of oranges, though. An orange wall probably wouldn't stay up, you probably think. Well, I'm here to tell you that I have seen one, and it did stay up. My name is Mariana Berry. I was named after a type of blackberry, called the Marionberry. Why? Well, because my family owns a fruit farm, and we are always finding new fruits, but we'll get to that later. Right now, I'm going to tell you about the orange wall.
It all started with my younger sister. When she was little, she wouldn't eat anything at all. Nothing. For 10 days. What kid doesn't eat any thing for 10 days? We offered her countless things to choose from, but she wouldn't eat anything. The doctors said that it was just a phase, but that didn't stop my mom from freaking out.
" Please, Star, just eat something," Mom begged on one occasion. "If you eat something, then we'll do whatever you want this weekend," she added.
Star looked up at me, then at Mom, then back to me. She grinned like the Cheshire Cat. I had a bad feeling about this.
"Anything?" Star asked, still looking at me.
"Don't do it, Mom. She's going to do something horrible to me, I just know it!" I cried (Okay, maybe I was being a little dramatic).
Mom ignored me and turned to Star. " Yes, anything within reason, we'll do," she said.
" Here's my proposition: I will eat four oranges IF and only if Mariana goes on ALL of the roller coasters with me at Six Flags," Star said.
I gritted my teeth. I hated roller coasters, but I was the only one who could go with her. All of my other siblings were too young or they just happened to be 'bus' whenever we went to Six Flags. "Fine," I said. "Might as well eat the clementines because we're out of regular oranges," I added.
"I took them. I was doing an experiment with fruit and-" " I don't care," I told my brother who just walked in.
My younger brother was year older than Star, but it seemed like he was way more mature. Sam liked science and anything was curious about (basically everything) deserved "further research" as he calls it.
"This experiment might interest you though, Mary. I was in the kitchen with Bobbi, and we were thinking about what to do with all of the extra fruit that we won't sell or eat, because we have a lot of oranges left," Sam began.
"Not anymore," Star mumbled under her breath.
Sam continued. "I was looking at the wall, when it hit me: we could make a wall of fruit. Just think about it. Before you say anything, I was thinking we could use a big piece of wood for the back and something sticky like honey for putting the pieces of fruit together."
For a moment we just stared at him, then we started asking him questions.
"Where would it go?" I asked.
"Do you realize how messy that would be?" Mom asked.
"Can I eat part of the wall?" Star asked.
"I guess not eating for 10 days finally caught up to you, huh, Star. It's too bad we ate all of that pie yesterday. We would've saved you some if you wanted," I teased.
Star glared at me. I smiled right back at her while Mom continued to grill Sam about his "expirement."
"Mom, don't worry. I'm going to make a model first before I start working on anything. I have to make sure the scale is set properly. I'll ask Dad if I need some help because he's good with numbers. See you guys later." With that Sam walked away towards his room.
Bobbi walked in right after that, and tried to turn around as soon as she saw Mom's face.
"I had nothing to do with Sam's idea, Mom. I was actually just talking to my friend when Sam came into the kitchen and told me his idea. I told him that he had a great imagination, and he could try out if he wanted to. I didn't think he'd actually do it," Bobbi explained.
